Elon Musk’s Twitter Poll

On the evening of November 18, 2022, around 6:47 pm US time, i.e. on November 19, 2022, around 6:17 am IST, Elon Musk started a Twitter Poll. There he asked people if they wanted to have Donald Trump reinstated on Twitter. His tweet read, “Reinstate former President Trump,” followed by a simple Yes or No polling options.

Soon, votes started pouring in with only a slight difference between the two answers. Within a few minutes, Musk tweeted “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” in reply to his poll. Within less than 24 hours over 140 million netizens had seen the tweet.

By the end of the 24-hour deadline, over 15 Million people had seen the poll and cast their votes. With a total of 15,085,458 votes, the results were clear. While 51.8% of the voters were in favour of getting the former President back on Twitter, around 48.2% were against the notion. Although the difference between the answers was minimal, the decision had been made.

Donald Trump's Twitter Account To Be Reinstated

Exactly a few minutes after the poll ended, Elon Musk tweeted sharing the result and making a declaration. His tweet read, “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.” The phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” that he used in the tweet is a Latin phrase that literally translates to "the voice of the people is the voice of God".

Twitter Reinstated But No Sign Of Trump

Soon after the tweet, former US President Donal J. Trump’s Twitter account was reinstated. However, looks like Trump isn’t in the mood to make a comeback on Twitter. His last tweet is still the one he shared on January 8, 2021, which reads, “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Donald Trump was banned in 2021, for inciting violence on the microblogging service i.e. Twitter. When asked about his return to the platform, during the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting in Las Vegas via video link, Trump claimed he won’t be returning to Twitter saying, “I don’t see any reason for it.”

Trump On Truth Social

For a while now, Donald Trump has been using the social media app called Truth Social. This app is developed by his Media & Technology Group (TMTG) startup and has been doing "phenomenally well" according to the man himself.

Talking about his stance on returning back or continuing with Truth Social, Trump said, “Truth Social has been very, very powerful, very, very strong, and I’ll be staying there.” Well, looks like, despite the Twitter votes being in favour of getting Trump back on Twitter, the man himself doesn’t want to come back on the platform any time soon.
