ICICI Securities Report

National Aluminium Company Ltd. has reported highest-ever Ebitda of Rs 45.2 billion in FY22, up 153% YoY, on account of higher realisation and better volumes.

Q4 FY22 Ebitda surprised with better than expected cost control (ex power). FY22 aluminium production has also surprised reaching ~100% utilisation.

Nalco plans expansion of alumina capacity by approx. one million tonne with expected commissioning by Q3 FY24.

Higher energy (coal) costs may be hampering FY23E margins for Nalco. Further, as per the revised Indian Bureau of Mines guideline, it is mandatory to process bauxite up to ~7% silica content (versus ~4% earlier) which will further increase bauxite requirement by ~8-9% and increase raw material cost for Nalco.
