Ferrous, Non-Ferrous Metals Check - Falling Coking Coal Prices To Provide Some Relief: IDBI Capital

IDBI Capital Report

During July, Indian steel prices declined by 4% month-on-month led by imposition of export duty on steel. Even Chinese hot rolled coil steel prices fell by 10% month-on-month.

On a positive note, coking coal prices fell 46% month-on-month to $170/tonne. For June, global steel production fell by 7% month-on-month to 158 million tonnes while Chinese steel production decline by 6% month-on-month to 91 million tonnes.

Chinese steel exports fell by 3% month-on-month to 7.6 million tonnes. Meanwhile, Indian crude steel output increased by 6% YoY to 10 million tonnes.

Indian steel exports fell by 44% month-on-month to 0.8 million tonnes.
