On July 31, 2022, or Day 6 of the 5G spectrum auction, total bids touched Rs 1.5 trillion. Here are the key highlights from Day 6:
Day 6 again saw incremental bidding only in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle in the 1800 megahertz band, which led to a 10%/66% price increase from day 5/base price.
The 1800 MHz band in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle was once again in the limelight, with bids rising to 75 blocks from 50 blocks on Day 5, surpassing the limited spectrum quantity of 54 blocks on sale.
Both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel Ltd. may have bid for the above 75 blocks (15hHz).
Total bids for the 1800 MHz band has increased by Rs 10 billion from day 5 to Rs 108 billion.
The total 5G spectrum bid for all bands remained ~Rs 1.5 trillion.
We believe RJio/Airtel may have spent a total of Rs 860 billion/Rs 452 billion on Day 6.
Bidding will start again today.
