Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the logo, theme and website of India's Presidency of the G20 on Tuesday.

Speaking at the online launch event, the PM said that the world is going through the after-effects of a disruptive once-in-century pandemic, conflicts, and a lot of economic uncertainty.

The symbol of the lotus in the G20 logo is a representation of hope in these times, he said. "No matter how adverse the circumstances, the lotus still blooms."

The logo depicts the earth as placed on a lotus, with the seven petals of the lotus representing the seven continents, the PM said.

The G20, too, aims to bring the world together while representing diversity, he said.

"It will be our endeavour that no country is first world or third world, but one world," he said.

The mantra in the G20 now is "one earth, one family, one future", he said.

India will assume G20 Presidency from Dec. 1, 2022. The Presidency offers India a unique opportunity to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of national importance, the PM said.

G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation representing around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population, said a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs.

During the course of its G20 Presidency, India will be holding about 200 meetings in 32 different sectors in multiple locations across India, it said.

The G20 Summit, to be held next year, would be one of the highest profile international gatherings hosted by India.
