The Indian rupee ended 0.3% higher against the U.S. dollar, closing the week on a high after depreciating on Thursday.
The currency opened 0.45% or 35 paise higher at 79.11 on Friday. It had closed at 79.47 on Thursday.
Through the day, the rupee gained as much as 0.69% or 55 paise to 78.92. Post the policy announcement by the RBI, the rupee remained off the day's high and ended at 79.24, up 0.3%.
The domestic currency had weakened to a record low beyond 80 twice last month.
