Nirmal Bang Report

We expect Q1 FY23 earnings of auto and auto ancillary companies in our coverage universe to grow significantly over a lower base of Q1 FY22.

On a sequential basis, we expect the earnings to be a mixed bag, with two-wheeler companies likely to post strong volume while chip shortage issue and seasonal weakness will impact passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle segments, respectively.

Revenue of our original equipment manufacturer coverage universe is expected to improve by ~28% YoY, driven by 11%/45%/129% YoY revenue growth in two-wheeler/PV/CV OEMs.

Volume in Q1 FY23 is expected to post a broad-based recovery across segments on a low base of Q1 FY22. The two-wheeler segment witnessed early signs of recovery in Q1 FY23, with wholesales growing by 25% YoY (flattish QoQ) while PV and CV demand continued to remain strong.
