In a notice uploaded on its website, public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) has informed that it will be revising the ATM cash withdrawal and Point of Sale (POS) transaction limits for its debit card customers. However, PNB has not specified any effective date in this notice.

This revision in debit card transaction limits comes as a piece of good news for PNB customers as the bank has said that it is not reducing the daily transaction limit but increasing it. The PNB notice says that the debit card transaction limit will be revised for the bank’s high-end variant cards.

  • For PNB Platinum variant MasterCard, Rupay and VISA Gold debit cards, the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit will be revised to ₹1 Lakh per day from ₹50,000 at present. The POS limit for such debit cards will be increased to ₹3 Lakh per day from ₹1.25 Lakh at present.

  • For Rupay Select and VISA Signature debit cards, the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit will be revised to ₹1.50 Lakh from ₹50,000 at present. The POS transaction limit for such debit cards will be revised to ₹5 Lakh per day from ₹1.25 Lakh.

  • For Classic PNB debit card holders, the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit remains unchanged at ₹25,000, while each ATM withdrawal cannot exceed the amount of ₹20,000. The POS transaction limit for Classic PNB debit cards is ₹60,000 per day.

While this is a great move by PNB, it comes with an added risk in the case of cyber fraud. Hence, customers are provided with the liberty to customise and reduce their daily transaction limit as per their requirement through the bank’s internet banking facility, the Punjab National Bank mobile banking app, PNB ATM, or by visiting the base PNB branch.
