With so many crucial documents to hold on to, what if you lose something important? What if you misplaced your PAN card or somebody stole it from you? Do not fret, as the government of India now allows you to get a duplicate PAN card in place of the old one. Read on to know how you can get your precious card back.

What To Do Before You Apply For Duplicate PAN Card?

The most important thing to do in such a situation is to stay calm. It’s very natural for one to panic when you lose such an important document, but stressing about it isn’t going to help you. Stay calm, and try to find it. If you’re sure you’ve lost it, immediately go to the nearest police station and file an FIR regarding your missing/stolen PAN card.

This is an extremely important step to avoid your PAN card being misused for fraud. This FIR will save you from falling into any trouble, in case your PAN is used by some fraudsters. Now move on to get your duplicate PAN card issued.

Steps To Apply For Duplicate PAN Card Offline

If your PAN card was lost or stolen you can now reapply for a PAN card offline by going to one of the offline centres near you. Just follow these simple steps to get your duplicate PAN card:

  • Visit your nearest PAN or NSDL-TIN Facilitation Centres.

  • Inform there that your PAN card has been stolen/misplaced and ask for the application form to request a duplicate PAN card.
