Sensex Reclaims 59,000, Forty Of Nifty 50 Advanced: Market Wrap

Sensex, Nifty gain in a volatile session to snap two day losing streak.

India's stock benchmarks gained in a volatile session, snapping two-day losing streak, aided by gains in metal, auto, banking, and consumer durables stocks.

The Sensex rose over 250 points to close at 59,031.30, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.5% to end at 17,577.50. Among Nifty 50 constituents, 40 stocks rose, while 10 declined. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Eicher Motors Ltd., Bajaj Finserv Ltd., Titan Ltd., and Tata Steel Ltd. were among the top gainers.

The broader indices outperformed their larger peers with mid cap index gaining 1% and small cap rising 0.8%. Barring information technology and teck, all the other 17 sectoral measures advanced.

The market breadth was skewed in the favour of bulls. Around 2,133 stocks rose, 1,264 fell and 153 remained unchanged
