Sensex, Nifty Hit Fresh 52-Week High: Midday Market Update
Sensex was trading 0.18% higher at 61,965.97 around 12:28 p.m. Nifty 50 traded flat, up 0.06% at 18,413.85.
India's stock benchmarks hit a fresh 52-week high, aided by gains in IT, industrial and banking stocks.
Sensex was trading 0.18% higher at 61,965.97 after hitting a 52-week high of 62,052.57 on the BSE. The Nifty 50 traded little changed at 18,413.85 after hitting a 52-week of 18,442.15 on the NSE.
Among Nifty 50 constituents, 18 stocks rose, 30 declined, and two remained unchanged.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., Coal India Ltd., Eicher Motors Ltd. and Wipro Ltd. were the top gainers on the Nifty 50.
While, Hindalco Industries Ltd., Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., JSW Steel Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd. and Tata Steel Ltd. were the top laggards.
The broader indices underperformed their larger peers, with the mid-cap index losing 0.31% and the small-cap gauge gaining 0.06%.
Fourteen out of the 19 sectoral measures complied by the BSE Ltd. declined, with BSE metal losing the most by over 1%
The market breadth is skewed in favour of the bears. About 1,599 stocks rose, 1,788 fell, and 151 remained unchanged.
