Sensex, Nifty Gain For Fourth Straight Week Hitting 52-Week Highs
Sensex gained 1.95% to 61,795.04, while Nifty 50 rose 1.78% to 18349.70. Both the indices hit their 52-week high on Friday.
Indian stock benchmarks ended higher on Friday, sustaining gains for the fourth week in a row, aided by IT, banking, metals and realty stocks.
Sensex gained 1.95% to close at 61,795.04 on the BSE, while Nifty 50 rose 1.78% to end at 18349.70 on the NSE. Both the indices hit their 52-week high on Friday.
Nifty PSU bank, bank, and IT indices were the top gainers of this week, while Nifty pharma and auto indices lagged.
Today, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Infosys Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd. and HCL Technologies Ltd. were the top gainers on the Nifty 50.
While, Eicher Motors Ltd., Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Britannia Industries Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and State Bank of India were the top laggards.
The broader indices underperformed their larger peers, with the mid-cap and the small-cap gauge gaining over 0.15% and 0.33%, respectively. While the large-cap index almost mirrored its large peers gaining 1.69%
Fifteen of the 20 sectoral measures complied of BSE Ltd. advanced with BSE information & technology and BSE teck, gaining over 3%.
The market breadth is skewed in favour of the bulls. About 1,821 stocks rose, 1,640 fell and 140 remained unchanged.
