Sensex, Nifty Extend Gains As Healthcare, IT, Power, Capital Goods Stocks Advance: Midday Market Update

India's stock benchmarks advanced, aided by gains in healthcare, information technology, capital goods and power stocks.
The Sensex rose 0.53% to 61,067.30 on the BSE, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.59% to 18,119.20 on the NSE. Of the Nifty 50 constituents, 37 stocks rose while 13 fell .
Adani Enterprises Ltd., Divi's Laboratories Ltd., NTPC Ltd., Dr. Reddy Laboratories Ltd., and Tata Consultancy Services Lt d. were the top gainers, while Axis Bank Ltd., Eicher Motors Ltd., Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., UPL Ltd., and Tata Steel Ltd. were the top losers on Nifty 50.
The mid-cap, small-cap and large-cap indices underperformed their larger peers. Fifteen sectoral measures complied by BSE Ltd. advanced with healthcare and information technology gaining the most.
The market breadth is skewed in favour of the bulls. About 1,752 stocks rose, 1,602 fell and 151 remained unchanged.
