Sensex, Nifty Advance As Banking, Metals And Services Stocks Gain: Midday Market Update

Sensex traded with 0.17% gains at 61,521.29, while the Nifty 50 advanced 0.14% to 18,269.

India's benchmark indices sustained gains as banking, metal, and services stocks advanced.

At 12:47 p.m., the Sensex traded with 0.17% gains at 61,521.29 on the BSE, while the Nifty 50 advanced 0.14% to 18,269 on the NSE. Among Nifty 50 constituents, 30 stocks advanced, 18 declined, and two remained unchanged.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., JSW Steel Ltd., HDFC Life Insurance Co. and State Bank of India were the top Nifty 50 gainers.

Adani Enterprises Ltd., Power Grip Corporation of India Ltd., Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. were the top laggards.

The broader indices outperformed their larger peers, with the mid-cap and small-cap indices gaining 0.34% and 0.65%, respectively. The large-cap index almost mirrored its large peers, gaining 0.17%.

Nineteen out of the 20 sectoral measures complied by BSE Ltd. advanced, with BSE metal and services gaining the most.

The market breadth is skewed in favour of the bulls. About 1,935 stocks rose, 1,441 fell, and 136 remained unchanged.
