Gathering Of 5 Or More People Prohibited In Bengaluru On New Year's Eve
Bengaluru City Police has prohibited the gathering of more than five persons in open areas or main roads for the purpose of New Year celebrations between 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 5 a.m. on Jan. 1.
In the order, the police said that people can, however, celebrate privately within their houses or residential complexes.
Hotels, malls and restaurants will also not be allowed to organise any special events or music shows within that timeframe although usual business activity, including playing of music within permissible decibels is allowed.
Bihar Detects Its First Omicron Case
Bihar has reported the first case of a Covid-19 patient infected with the Omicron variant, according to the state health department.
A 26-year-old man in Patna's Kidwaipuri district was reported to be infected with the new variant.
Delhi Reports 1,300 Covid-19 Cases, Positivity Rate At 1.89%
Cases in the national capital continued to see a spike, with as many as 1,313 fresh cases being reported. This takes the positivity rate to 1.73%.
The state recorded 923 infections yesterday. Single-day cases have surpassed the 1,000-mark for the first time in seven months.
Maharashtra Adds Nearly 200 Omicron Cases In A Day
Maharashtra's total Omicron tally went up to 450, with the state recording 198 cases of the variant today. Of the 450, 327 cases have been detected in Mumbai alone.
The state also added 5,368 fresh Covid-19 cases, a jump of 1,468 over yesterday's numbers.
Mumbai Reports 46% Spike In Covid-19 Cases, Positivity Rate At 8.5%
Mumbai has reported 3,671 positive cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, marking a spike of 46% in cases over yesterday.
While the city recorded no deaths during the same period, the active Covid-19 case tally stands at 11,360.
