Covid-19 India Updates: New Cases Stay Above 40,000-Mark, 380 Deaths Recorded

India's daily Covid-19 infection rate remained above the 40,000-mark for the fifth day in a row, in the face of the imminent threat of the third wave.
As many as 42,909 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 9 a.m. on Aug. 30. The daily positivity rate, or the share of positive test results in the total tests done in the last 24 hours, inched up above 3%.
The country's active case load has risen to 3.76 lakh as daily recoveries, at around 34,000, have consistently remained lower than fresh cases. Active cases now constitute 1.15% of India’s total Covid tally.
