Covid-19 India Updates: India Reports 1,190 New Cases, Deaths Spike To 1,375 On Punjab Backlog

Fresh Covid-19 cases in India rose from a day earlier staying above the 1,000-mark for the fifth day in a row.

The nation reported 1,190 new cases and 1,375 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the 8 a.m. update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The sudden spike in deaths was due to Punjab adding a backlog of 1,369 deaths.

The country's active case tally now stands at 16,243.
