Delhi Records Over 1,000 Cases For Fourth Day
Delhi reported 1,797 coronavirus cases and one death in the last 24-hours, PTI reported, citing the city's health ministry.
While the city recorded more than 1,000 daily cases for the fourth straight day, the positivity rate has risen to 8.18% according to the data.
Mumbai Records Over 2,200 Cases In A Day
Mumbai recorded 2,255 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths in a single day, according to an update from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Council.
The two persons who died, however, were reported to have co-morbidities, the update also said.
While 2,145 persons of the 2,255 reported Covid-19 positive were found to be asymptomatic, 110 persons were hospitalised in the past 24-hours.
Mumbai's Covid-19 Test Positivity Rate Crosses 15% Twice This Week
The Covid-19 test positivity rate in Mumbai jumped over 15% twice in the current week, civic officials said on Friday, as the metropolis battles a fresh surge in cases after the third wave of the pandemic waned earlier this year, PTI reports.
According to officials TPR jumped to 15.58% on June 14, when 1,724 people tested positive for coronavirus out of 11,065 tests conducted that day. On June 16, once again the rate shot up to 15.11% when 2,366 new patients were detected on the back of 15,656 tests in a span of 24 hours.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has ramped up the number of daily tests since the first week of June after the city witnessed a spike in fresh cases.
Fresh Covid-19 cases in India rose for the second day, staying above the 12,000-mark.
The country reported 12,847 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to an update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at 8 a.m. on June 17.
Active Covid-19 cases exceeded 63,000, as fresh cases continue to surge.
