India's active Covid-19 infections rose over the weekend as the number of recovered patients dropped.
The country reported 16,167 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Aug. 8. Single-day recoveries stood at 18,558.
New cases continue to outpace recoveries, propping up the active tally.
