Covid-19 India Updates: Active Cases Exceed 48,000; Daily Deaths At 18

India's active Covid-19 cases rose for the fifth day in a row as fresh infections continued to surpass single-day recoveries.

The country added 4,858 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 19. That compares with 4,735 recoveries in the same period.

The active tally stood at 48,027.
