Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. will start beta trials for its 5G services in four cities from Dussehra, Oct. 5.

While getting its 5G services ready in these cities, Jio will also roll out a ‘welcome offer’ for its users to try the 5G services and provide user and service experience feedback, the telecom operator said in a statement on Tuesday. The company is looking to target its 425-million subscriber base with its 5G services.

From Dussehra, the ‘welcome offer’ will be available for Jio users in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi by invitation. It will offer unlimited 5G data with speeds over 1 Gbps, the company said. Invited Jio welcome offer users will be automatically upgraded to the Jio’s 5G service without changing their existing SIM or 5G handset.

Jio said it would roll out 5G beta trial services for other cities as the required infrastructure is laid down. Users will continue to avail of this beta trial until the network coverage of a city is substantially complete to provide optimum coverage and user experience, it said.

“By embracing 5G, Jio will create nation-first platforms and solutions that will transform skill development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and many such sectors, with the promise of enabling a better life for every Indian,” said Akash Ambani, chairman at Reliance Jio.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched 5G services in India on Saturday last week.
