Ravinder Takkar Named Vodafone Idea Chairman

Ravinder Takkar will take over as non-executive chairman of Vodafone Idea from Aug. 19.

Vodafone Idea Ltd. has named Ravinder Takkar as its non-executive chairman succeeding Himanshu Kapania.

Takkar's term as chairman begins from Aug. 19, a day after his term as chief executive officer and managing director of the telecom operator ends, according to the company's exchange filing.

Akshaya Moondra was earlier named Takkar's successor as managing director and CEO.

Takkar, a nominee of the Vodafone Group, is a telecom industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience. He was also the chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India for two years.
