Almost everything that has gone digital, has eased things up for the customers. The same can be said about online banking. Ever since banks started offering net banking facilities, customers are much more inclined to use their services without the worry of having to visit the bank to avail them. However, if you’re still new to net banking, or recently got yourself an account at the State Bank of India, better known as SBI, you can now get registered for the service online.

If you’re wondering how to register for SBI net banking, enlisted below are three different ways you can do it through the official SBI online banking portal:

  • Internet Banking Pre-printed Kit

When you apply for an SBI account, you are usually asked if you’d like to avail net banking facility, get an ATM card, get phone banking facility, a credit card or more. So, if you opted for the online banking facility in your application, you would have received a pre-printed internet banking kit from SBI.

You can use this kit for your SBI net banking registration. Simply follow the steps mentioned below and you can start using your net banking services within minutes.

  1. Go to https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/.

  2. In the Personal Banking section, click on New User Registration.

  3. You’ll see a pop-up that advises you to use the credentials in the pre-printed kit (PPK), if you have it, and log in to SBI net banking.

  4. On the same pop-up, you’ll see two options: OK and Cancel. Click on Cancel.

  5. Now click on Login and when the Personal Banking page opens up, click on Continue To Login.

  6. Now enter the default ID and password given to you in the pre-printed kit and log in.

  7. Change the user ID and login password to that of your preference.

That’s it, your internet banking registration is done!

  • User Driven Registration With ATM Card

Now if you haven’t opted for the net banking facility while getting your SBI account, you can still register for it online via User Driven Registration. Please keep your ATM card, mobile phone, passbook, etc handy for this process. Follow the steps given below for a seamless registration process:

  1. Go to https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/.

  2. In the Personal Banking section, click on New User Registration.

  3. Now when the message pops up regarding the pre-printed kit, you click on OK.

  4. A new window will open up with New User Registration as the chosen option. Click on Next.

  5. The User Driven Registration form for new users will open up.

  6. Fill in all the details and click on Submit.

  7. Then you’ll be shown a form to enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.

  8. Enter the OTP and click on Confirm.

  9. Now select the ‘I have my ATM Card’ option and click on Submit.

  10. You will be redirected to the Debit Card Validation page. Enter your ATM card details and click on Proceed.

  11. Your request will be placed and then you will be asked to generate a permanent username and login password.

  12. Once that is done you’ll have to log in again and set your profile password.

  13. Now select your hint question, enter the answer for it and add in your birth details as asked on the form and click on Submit.

That’s it, your registration is complete. However, since you registered through the SBI online banking portal, you’ll only have viewing rights to check your account balance or generate account statements. But you can get these rights converted to Transaction Rights via the Upgrade Access Level link under the Request & Enquiries tab.

  • User Driven Registration With Activation By Branch

Now if you don’t have an ATM card, you can still register for SBI net banking services. However, your activation will be confirmed only once your branch approves it. For this, you will have to follow all the steps from 1 to 8 mentioned above. Then, continue with your SBI net banking registration by following the steps mentioned below:

  1. Select the option that reads ‘I do not have my ATM Card’ and click on Submit.

  2. You will be displayed a system-generated username. Enter that, set the login password and click on Submit.

  3. Then, a confirmation page is displayed with your temporary username and pre-printed kit (PPK) number.

  4. The same page also has a link to the registration form that you need to Download, print, fill and submit at your branch to avail SBI Internet Banking services.

Once your branch activates the facility you can start using it with your temporary password and the PPK number received.
