The Government of India implemented a cashless toll collection facility across the country to avoid long queues and traffic jams on the highways. This cashless model is called FASTag. The government has made it mandatory for all 4-wheelers to have a FASTag since February 16, 2021.

What Is A FASTag?

A FASTag is a rechargeable prepaid card that is stuck on your vehicle’s windscreen. This is an electronic mode of paying the toll fee at the highway toll-collection plaza without having to wait in long queues. The FASTag uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to automatically scan and deduct the toll fee from the card without making a cash payment.

The steps to apply for a FASTag- online through a digital payment application are as follows:

  1. Visit the FASTag section on the digital payment application.

  2. Upload the necessary documents on the portal.

  3. Complete the payment for your FASTag.

That’s it! Your FASTag will be delivered to you in a few days at your registered address.

FASTag Application Via A Bank

Here are the steps to follow to apply for a FASTag online through a bank:

  1. Visit the official website of any bank that offers the FASTag facility

  2. Fill in the online FASTag application form on the portal

  3. Upload all the necessary documents

  4. Make the payment for your FASTag

In a few days, your FASTag will be delivered to your registered address. You can also apply for a FASTag offline at any bank by submitting the FASTag application form at any branch along with the required documents.

Offline FASTag Application At Toll Booth

You can apply for a FASTag at various toll booths by following the below-mentioned process:

  1. Visit the Point of Sale (POS) terminals located at any toll plaza.

  2. Submit all the necessary documents and their original copies at the POS for the verification of your FASTag application.

  3. Post verification, the concerned agency will issue a FASTag for your vehicle and affix it on your vehicle’s windscreen.

What Are The Documents Required For FASTag Application?

To apply for FASTag, you will need to submit the following documents-

  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)

  • KYC documents

  • PAN Card

  • Identity and Address Proof- Driver’s License Valid Passport, Voter’s ID Card, Aadhaar Card
