Elon Musk's Twitter Takeover: Anand Mahindra, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Rahul Gandhi React - Twitterati Reactions
Elon Musk took over Twitter after a series of events that lasted months. Check out how Twitterati reacted to this acquisition
The news of Tesla chief Elon Musk finally taking over Twitter spread like wildfire on Thursday. The micro-blogging site was inundated with memes and mixed reactions from Twitterati. Additionally, over 200,000 searches for "Elon Musk Twitter" were made on Google on Monday, according to sources.
Some of India's most successful businessmen shared their opinions on the deal, which had been months in the making, as Musk completed his USD 44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the CEO of Paytm, were among a few who responded to Musk's acquisition of the social media company.
Several top officials, including Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, were reportedly led out of the company's San Francisco offices on Thursday evening, according to a Reuters report. Musk, a self-described "absolutist" of free expression, has criticized Twitter's leadership and its moderation practices. He accused the top executives of the organization had given false data regarding the number of users of the company. He claimed he was purchasing Twitter as he wished the "civilisation to have a common digital town square." He also stated that he intended to remove spam accounts and keep the platform as a place for free discussion.
The first tweet Musk posted after acquiring Twitter read,
the bird is freed

Soon after that, a number of tweets flooded in with a range of reactions from various people. Ever since the takeover, Twitter users have been debating how the platform would change under Musk's leadership since the acquisition.

Now that @Twitter has new owners hope this place becomes more fun again and the domination of negativity spreading troll ganglords ends. Too many good people have left or paused tweeting because of this.

I hope @Twitter will now act against hate speech, fact check more robustly, and will no longer stifle the oppositionâs voice in India due to government pressure. pic.twitter.com/j2unZeYYj6
