Ola Electric’s Chief Marketing Officer Varun Dubey, the faces of the mobility company, has stepped down amid a series of high-profile exits as the company faces scrutiny after its scooters caught fire.

An Ola spokesperson confirmed to BQ Prime that Dubey stepped down due to personal reasons.

Dubey's exit follows just days after Dinesh Radhakrishnan, chief technology officer, quit. The company is grappling with production delays as well as safety as technical issues amid a barrage of consumer complaints. Ola, backed by SoftBank Group Corp., had recalled a batch of 1,441 scooters following an investigation into the vehicle fires.

Dubey joined Ola's financial services business in 2019 and quickly climbed the ranks to head Ola electric’s marketing division when it was launched last year. Ever since then, he has been the face of Ola’s electric business, was actively involved in its promotion events.
