Meta named Sandhya Devanathan as the vice president and head of its India operations, nearly two weeks after former India head Ajit Mohan quit the firm.

Devanathan will focus on bringing the organisation’s business and revenue priorities together, while continuing to support the long-term growth of Meta’s business in India, the company said in a statement.

Devanathan will transition to her new role on Jan. 1, 2023.

Currently based in Singapore, she will move back to India to lead the organisation and strategy for Meta. Her role includes driving Meta’s revenue growth in key channels in India, the company said.

Devanathan joined Meta in 2016 and helped build out the Singapore and Vietnam businesses as well as Meta’s e-commerce initiatives in Southeast Asia. She then moved to lead gaming in APAC in 2020.

"I’m pleased to welcome Sandhya as our new leader for India. Sandhya has a proven track record of scaling businesses, building exceptional and inclusive teams, driving product innovation and building strong partnerships. We are thrilled to have her lead Meta’s continued growth in India," Marne Levine, chief business officer at Meta said.

Devanathan's appointment comes as Meta's leadership in India saw several top-level exits within a short span. On Tuesday, WhatsApp's India Head Abhijit Bose and Meta India Public Policy Director Rajiv Aggarwal had resigned.

BQ Prime is awaiting Meta's response on Manish Chopra's role now, who was named the interim chief for the India business after Ajit Mohan's departure.

Chopra serves as the director and head of partnerships for Meta in India.
