Laxman Narasimhan At Starbucks: Indian-Origin CEOs Heading Global Corporations

Indian-American executive Laxman Narasimhan is set to take over the reins of Starbucks from Howard Schultz.

Narasimhan, 55, is set to join the global coffee chain operator from Oct. 1. Prior to this, he was chief executive officer at Reckitt Benckiser Group, the owner of Dettol, Lysol, Veet, Harpic and other brands. Narasimhan was previously an executive at global beverage firm PepsiCo Inc.

Narasimhan graduated in mechanical engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, after which he moved overseas to do his MBA in finance from the University of Pennsylvania.
