HDFC Bank Is India’s Most Valuable Brand For Sixth Straight Year

LIC of India and TCS were the second and third most valuable brands in India in 2019, according to the WPP-Kantar Brandz report.

India’s largest private lender by market value has become the nation’s most valuable brand for the sixth year in a row in 2019.

HDFC Bank Ltd., with a brand value of $22.7 billion, trumped peers like Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. and ICICI Bank Ltd. and the nation’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., in a list of 75 companies compiled by the ad agency network WPP Plc. and market researcher Kantar Millward Brown.

Life Insurance Corporation of India and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. were ranked second and third, retaining their positions from last year.

The nation’s newest telecom operator, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., which debuted on the list last year, has moved up one position to nine.

The net value of the top 75 Indian brands is $228.2 billion.

ICICI Bank dropped to 10 from last year’s ninth position, while Asian Paints Ltd. moved up one position to being the seventh-most valuable Indian brand.

New entrants on the list include Vodafone Idea Ltd. at 24, Oyo Hotels & Homes at 30, Reliance Retail Ltd. at 55, Zomato at 61, Bandhan Bank Ltd. at 68, Nirma Ltd. at 71 and Good Knight at 74.
