Maruti Suzuki Unveils Jimny, Fronx

In a bid to secure top position in the sports utility vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday unveiled two new products -- Jimny and Fronx -- in the country.

Unveiling the products at the Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the company's medium-term goal has been to get back 50% market share and secure the number one position in the SUV segment.

Jimny is a highly anticipated vehicle in India, a natural successor to Gypsy. Jimny was launched in 1970 in global markets but the prevailing 3-door vehicle in international markets has been upgraded to a bigger 5-door variant for India.

Fronx comes with a new one-litre Turbo Boosterjet Direct Injection engine.

Electric Vehicles Steal The Limelight

Electric vehicles hogged the limelight on the first day of India's flagship motor show Auto Expo 2023 with the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Tata Motors and MG Motor showcasing their futuristic products, while also committing to invest in sustainable mobility.

The company's Indian arm Maruti Suzuki India is among the major manufacturers participating at the expo, in which some major manufacturers such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen and Nissan along with luxury car makers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are not participating.

Tata Motors Sees EVs To Be 50% Of Sales In 10 Years

Transition to electric mobility in India will happen much faster and the Tata Group will make significant investments in the sector to develop a range of products, Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran said.

He said that Tata Motors has a number of products lined up in order to cater to the evolving customer needs. "EV contribution in our portfolio is likely to increase to 25% in five years and reach 50% by 2030," Chandra said.

In the passenger vehicle space, the auto major unveiled Sierra.EV, all-wheel drive electric SUV Harrier.EV, AVINYA concept, a pure electric vehicle and ICE version of the Concept CURVV.

VE Commercial Vehicles Unveils Intercity Electric Bus

VE Commercial Vehicles unveiled a range of vehicles, including an intercity electric bus that can travel up to 500 kilometers with a mix of depot and 30-40 minute opportunity charging during a journey.

The company also showcased prototype Eicher Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck and Hydrogen ICE technology engine.

Ashok Leyland Unveiled 7 New Advanced Mobility Solutions

Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland has showcased seven advanced mobility solutions at the Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi, the city-based heavy commercial vehicle-maker said on Wednesday.

The products include a battery electric vehicle, fuel cell electric vehicle, hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicle, LNG, inter-city CNG bus, and a mini-passenger bus, the company said.

Shah Rukh Khan Unveils The All-New Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV

Hyundai India launched it's electric vehicle IONIQ 5.

The vehicle is underpinned by the dedicated E-GMP, or Electric Global Modular Platform, which will pave way for future electric vehicles as well.

It comes with 21 connected features (Level 2 ADAS) and a range of 631 km per full charge (As per ARAI).

A 7 be2.6 kWh battery will be able to charge it from 10 % to 80 % in 18 Minutes with a 350 kW DC charger and in 21 Minutes (ambient temp. of 25℃) with a 150 kW DC charger

Kia KA4 Unveiled At The Auto Expo

Kia India unveiled its All-Electric SUV Concept – the Kia Concept EV9, at the 16th edition of the Auto Expo in Greater Noida.

The brand showcased the Kia KA4, "a luxury RV, offering sophisticated design, world-class safety, innovation, and capabilities of advanced drive dynamics."

The company further announced an investment of Rs 2,000 crores in India for EV related R&D, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

Ashok Leyland At The Auto Expo

Ashok Leyland, an Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and a commercial vehicle manufacturer, showcased seven advanced mobility solutions at the Auto Expo 2023 today.

The company demonstrated its "futuristic vehicle range, powered by electric and hydrogen options."

The products showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 are battery and fuel cell EVs, an ICE vehicle, a LNG vehicle and intercity CNG bus and a mini passenger bus.

In Pictures: Greaves Cotton At The Auto Expo

Greaves Cotton Ltd. unveiled its new, 'Made in India' product offerings across two-wheelers and three-wheelers including the e2w - Ampere Primus.

Greaves has committed a capital investment of Rs 1,500 crores in the EV segment.

It also that announced the company will manufacture powertrains as it "aims to lead last-mile passenger and cargo mobility through a complete EV ecosystem stack."

Maruti Suzuki Unveils Electric SUX eVX

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. unveiled the concept electric SUV eVX at the Auto Expo 2023 on Wednesday. The mid-size electric SUV is designed and developed by the automaker's parent Suzuki Motor Corp. It will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack, offering up to 550 km of driving range.

The country's largest automaker, known for small hatchbacks, has stayed away from electric vehicles, despite rivals planning multiple launches in the coming years. The company is expected to launch its first EV in 2025.

Auto Expo 2023 Kicks Off

The Auto Expo 2023 has returned after a two-year hiatus during the pandemic. The show, which kicks off at the India Expo Mart in New Delhi, will see leading global and Indian automakers such as Tata Motors Ltd., Maruti Suzuki Ltd., China’s SAIC Motor Corp., Warren Buffett-backed BYD, MG Motor, Hyundai Motor, and many more. The auto giants will display top concept models and prototypes and chart out their launches for the year ahead.

Notably, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. isn’t attending the event, while luxury carmakers such as BMW Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz AG have also given it a miss.
