Apple Inc. will roll out 5G software updates for iPhone users in India in December, after a government nudge to do so.

Apple's iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and SE models support 5G.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Oct. 1 announced the launch of 5G services in India, but while millions of Indians have 5G-ready phones, many devices are not supporting the service at present. The central government is now holding talks with phonemakers to expedite the software updates that will allow customers to experience 5G on their devices.

Apple said it is working with carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed.

"5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December," Apple said in a statement.
